Jeff received a BS degree from Bemidji State University in 1970 and was a member of the NATCC in 1970-71. Following completion of flight training in 1971, he was assigned to HAL-3, Detachment Two at Nha Be’ in the Republic of Vietnam. Subsequently assigned to the SAR team at NAS Lemoore, he was a recipient of the Naval Helicopter Association Search and Rescue Crew of the year award for a night rescue on Mt. Whitney in January 1973. After serving in HS-2 and Airwing 14 aboard USS Enterprise, he was discharged in 1978 and joined the Naval Reserve with HS-84 and later became the Commanding Officer of HSL-84. In civilian life, he was in the telecommunications industry and became CEO of both private and publicly traded companies.
